Sonke Pharmaceuticals (Pty) Ltd was established in January 2006 as a Black Economic Empowerment joint venture between Ranbaxy (Pty) Ltd and Community Investment Holdings.
Sonke Pharmaceuticals has launched 21 products to date, nine of which are manufactured locally in South Africa. We are committed to acting responsibly in all economic, social and environmental aspects of our business.

SUN Pharma South Africa is ranked amongst the Top Seven generic pharmaceutical companies in South Africa, and is engaged in the sales and distribution of generic prescription, over-the-counter (OTC) and originator prescription products. We also offer generic anti-retroviral (ARV) medicines to needy patients in Southern Africa, via Sonke Pharmaceuticals, supporting National Governments in their effort to control the AIDS epidemic.
We have a state-of-the-art production facility in Roodepoort that manufactures anti-retrovirals, analgesics, cold, cough & flu preparations, anti-histamines, anti-hypertensives, CNS drugs, vitamins & minerals, and a comprehensive range of over-the-counter (OTC) products. The products are manufactured in various dosage forms including tablets, capsules, oral liquids, creams and gargles. These are marketed in the South African as well as neighbouring markets. The facility is equipped with the latest technology, meets international specifications and conforms to cGMP standards. It is designed to meet local regulatory requirements (MCC - South African Medicines Control Council) and complies with PIC/S (Pharmaceutical Inspection Convention & Pharmaceutical Inspection Co-operation Scheme).
